Losing Management Appetite

Losing Management Appetite

The important thing about loving your job is having the drive to achieve. People are placed in positions for a reason; because they are qualified and expected to accomplish a lot of things stated in the contract to which they would initially sign before getting down to work. However, one key element that is also considered is the appetite to pursue goals for career and corporate success. Without it, holding a job that has less feasibility of being a niche in the career of any person will most likely result in separation from the company after some given time.

The personal drive to accomplish goals will always be a factor in any setting. For most cases, employees simply looking after the compensation will not last long. All they are after is earning and getting that sense of security for their everyday needs. While some would readily deny this, it is a reality for any employee today.

There are also instances where managers would easily become frustrated because of lack of appreciation and a mix of high degree of setting of satisfaction by corporate owners. While managers would turn this as a challenge, there will always be a limit as to how long they can bear the pressure which usually becomes unreachable as set by most people.

While it is good to reach for the stars by an entrepreneur or corporate owner, being realistic and knowing the business should be done professionally. A person who does not know the business and is purely after monetary concerns will most likely end up losing in a business. Such is a typical scenario for Chinese businessmen who don’t even want to get their hands dirty. It is a reality and while their forefathers have toiled to get on the top, they are too far off being conservative losing money rather than gaining money.

Such is unfair for people who work hard. Asking too much may not always be a good thing. But realistically, Chinese natives are divided in the sense that rich Chinamen came into being because they started from scratch and could care less if they lose their money. No offense to their next of kin but it is a reality to which they end up fuming and shouting because they do not know how to run a business.

The Importance of Focus in Business Specialization

Employee Specialization

Have you watched the pitchers in a Major League Baseball game recently? If you watch closely, you will see that every player seems to fill a role, providing a specialization that fills a particular need of the team. One pitcher starts the game, another faces a handful of batters in the middle innings, another for the late innings, and yet another comes in to close the game. Teams do this not just for convenience or to spread around the work, but also to keep from spreading their resources too thin. This concept of specialization is one that many business owners should take to heart.

One of the main reasons many businesses fail is because they try to do too many things. And it usually starts out innocently enough. In the spirit of “keeping the customer happy,” businesses often allow themselves to do work outiside of their defimed area. Before they know it, they have veered too far off the intended path and are no longer able to provide the same level of service in their core competency.

In many cases, it’s better off to simply turn down business or refer a customer to one of your competitors. This will demonstrate your commitment to your company’s product.

There are many advantages to having a specialty, or niche, and sticking with it.

First, having a niche allows you to become an expert at what you do. After a while, your customers will see you as the go-to company in your area. While other companies are scrambling to be all things to all people, you can pick your spots.

Second, having a specialty allows you to keep your resources (human, equipment, etc.) on a clearly defined goal.

Third, starting your business with a clearly defined niche allows you to pursue growth at a more deliberate and steady pace. As you accumulate success after success in your defined specialty, you can more leisurely add other areas of expertise to your core business competencies. This will allow you to keep youor growth under control and give you the opportunity to expand only when you are ready.

The Power of Advertising and Endorsements

What do well-known celebrities such as Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Lebron James and John Cena have in common? Well for one, they are more inclined in the area of sports. But the one key aspect that people and organizations have found useful from them is the fact that their popularity are marketing opportunities to which products and services can jump on and get that attention and niche to help them advance beyond their competitors.

Indeed, such practice has cost companies in the process. These people do not come cheap. Million dollar endorsement deals are in the offing each time they are tapped to do certain commercials or ads for selected companies. If only all organizations had the necessary budget to support all of them, then perhaps we would see a tumultuous run in the world of healthy business competition.

The rate of returns when it comes towards these million dollar investments is indeed costly. Many companies defy acknowledging this feasibility while others have bitten the bullet. This practice has worked both ways. Depending on the endorsement deal and the level of exposure for such advertising and promotional investment, the whole effort’s value can only be seen if they are properly planned and executed according to what has been initially mapped out.
