Sales management is the process of getting customers to buy your products or services. The focus is to develop the selling techniques through pitching the clients. It should concern with the customer experience, sales dialog/ pitch (which details the WIIFM, suggestive selling and positioning statements) and the closing techniques.

Which traits are best to have for sales management? Here are some qualities that the sales team must have according to many entrepreneurs.

  1. Communicative – Open communication to your sales team is necessary. Clearly state them your expectations. Discuss and talk to them what are the problems that they encounter in dealing with the prospective and existing clients and help them planned the best situated to convey.
  2. Consistency – Create a consistent selling practices model. The model may include; performance review, sales meeting, compensation model, periodic behavioral assessments for sales team, daily sales activity and target sales. Everybody wants to work with the dependable and systematize company.
  3. Urgency – “Get it done now” is a good phrase that any sales person should practice. Set a standard goal that attainable in a standard frame of time and make it done before the time schedule. Sales teams with urgency have the highest percentage of fulfilled objectives. They have a good record of sales than those teams without urgency trait.
  4. Be sympathetic – compassion with your sales team is a good trait to master. Try to understand and study their work behavior. Know the reasons behind their actions and explain them that you understand their problems but carefully tell them that the performance should not affect by their outside lives and offer them any help that you can. Good relationships with your team can be a great help for the improvement of the group performance.
  5. Focus – The sales manager or team leader should have a focus not only in selling techniques but also in monitoring their team. Be focus to the following process; hiring, training, monitoring, developing and inspiring to them. You should watch every sales representative performance. Know their weakness and strengths. Schedule a regular training for their growth.
