Dell Computers Under Fire for Fraud Advertising

Dell Under Fire

Apparently, this promotion sent out by Dell Computers should not be seen as a surprise. Many computer vendors do it actually and with advertising in tow, they will make sure you notice their ads even if it means leaving out the fine print.

As reported, this did not sit well and was reported as misleading and hence fraudulent and false advertising. “No Interest” or “No Payment” was the heading of their ad but apparently there were ties associated with the financing arm which are known to charge interest.

Perhaps if most countries would apply the same then these misleading ads would be put to a halt. Unfortunately only Alaska had the focus to really push this issue to the limit against Dell, which of course disagreed with the ruling.

New York State Supreme Court Judge Joseph Teresi said Dell lured customers with advertisements offering “no interest” or “no payment” financing options, but its financing arm would charge higher rates.

Supreme Court Justice Joseph C. Teresi will hold further proceedings to determine how much restitution Dell will have to pay to its customers, the decision said.
