Time Management in the Business Workplace

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is still a mystery, and today is a gift. . . . that is why it is called the PRESENT”.

How do we make use of this valuable present? One way is to manage time properly in order to accomplish the assigned task. This can be done through daily applications.

First, the night before, plan and write the things to do the following day and set a time table to accomplish it. Work must be programmed in such a way that the task is finished accurately/correctly at the fastest time possible. See to it that everything needed to accomplish that task are ready so that no time is wasted. As the saying goes, “do not leave for tomorrow what you can do today”.

Second application is by setting priorities. Classify the important tasks that need to be done immediately. Start working on the task that can be done easily then move on to the more difficult task. This will make way for easier accomplishment of task without clogging the work schedule.

Third application is to be focused. Do not allow distractions to get in the way. Concentrate on the tasks. Never allow mind to wander. A wandering mind leaves the individual unaccomplished tasks.

Fourth application is to take deadlines seriously. Deadlines are made because they are necessary. Keep in mind that whatever one is doing is needed in order to complete a bigger task. A missed deadline would translate to unfinished work – just like a puzzle that would be incomplete because of a single missing piece.
