Many people have succeeded in business and in life by simply doing among other things – make as many friends as they can.
The following is a sample of a one week plan on how to win friends. This plan when followed will result to not only making more friends but would guarantee a more pleasant week than what an individual has experienced before.
Day One – Think of an old dear friend who have been out of reach or contact for quite sometime. Write or send an e-mail to this person a friendly, conversational personal letter.
Day Two – Start the day with a smile and greet every acquaintance on the street or at work with a smile. Also, say a few words of praise to at least one person.
Day Three – Say something pleasant to every close associate encountered at work.
Day Four – Make a telephone call to someone just recently met and would like to know better. If possible, extend an invitation for refreshment.
Day Five – Find someone who is not very popular and pay a lot of attention to know more about that person.
Day Six – Carry on a conversation with a stranger – a food server in a restaurant or to a fast food service crew, a bus or taxi driver, a vendor. If possible, praise that person for something pleasant he has done.
Day Seven – Encourage two people to talk about themselves. Say little only about self. Get the two people do more of the talking.
Most people are standoffish and that is the hindrance to making friends. The aforementioned seven day plan may seem crafty, but it is indeed helpful.
